Matthew 24:7-8  7 "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes.  8 "But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs.

I think the contractions are near full strength by now.  When the antichrist (Maitreya/Mahdi/Messiah/Teacher) arrives, there may be a short break, but take heed!  The judgments of God will then be poured out for those who take the mark of the beast! (Rev. 14:9,10)
