It has been communicated to a Rabbi in Israel that a great war is coming to Israel. He was told that it will begin in the south, and many will die.
Is this the same war that was foretold by the prophet Zechariah?
And then in all the land,” declares Yahweh,
“two thirds will be cut off and perish,
and one third will be left alive in it.
And I will bring the remaining third into the fire,
and I will refine them like one refines silver,
and I will test them like one tests gold.
They will call my name,
and I will answer them.
I will say, ‘They are my people,’
and they will say, ‘Yahweh is my God.’ ” Zech. 13:8-9
In chapters 12-14, Zechariah prophesies coming wars on Israel. In one sense, it could be taken that they all refer to that final battle, known as Armageddon. But they may not be so cut and dry as we envision.
In chapter 12 he says, ‘Look, I am going to make Jerusalem a cup of reeling for all the surrounding nations; it will also be against Judah in the siege against Jerusalem.
I think we can see Jerusalem is a cup of reeling for the nation's. No other city in the world finds itself in the situation of Jerusalem!
Yahweh predicts much disaster for His chosen, yet righteousness will be the end result, lasting Shalom, and Israel will know her God.
“ ‘On that day a well will be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and from impurity. And then, on that day,’ declares Yahweh of hosts, ‘I will cut off the names of the idols from the land, and they will no longer be remembered; and also the prophets and the spirit of uncleanness I will banish from the land. Czech. 13:1-2
